Elizabeth D. Walsh
For over 20 years, Elizabeth D. Walsh has been a dedicated and caring advocate for her clients. Her practice focuses on family law matters, including divorce, post-divorce modifications, paternity, spousal maintenance, child custody, and child support. She approaches each case with strong, effective advocacy and clear communication while helping clients find practical solutions that protect their families and their futures.
Elizabeth believes that family law matters don't always have to result in prolonged conflict. As an active member of the Kansas City Collaborative Law Group, she helps clients explore collaborative approaches designed to resolve disputes outside of the courtroom whenever appropriate. She is also an experienced mediator, where she focuses on creating a flexible, efficient, and cost-effective process that allows parties to work toward settlement while preserving important relationships.
Licensed to practice law in both Kansas and New York, Elizabeth began her legal career in her home state of New York. After graduating from law school, she served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York before transitioning into private practice, where she worked in general litigation for a New York City law firm.
Elizabeth and her family relocated to the Kansas City area more than 12 years ago and have proudly made Kansas their home. Today, her family law practice is primarily focused in Johnson County, where she brings decades of litigation, negotiation, mediation, and collaborative law experience to the clients she serves.
Elizabeth is deeply involved in the local family law community. She recently served as President of the Johnson County Family Law Inn of Court after more than eight years on its Executive Board. She is also a member of the Johnson County Bar Association and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. In addition, Elizabeth frequently presents Continuing Legal Education seminars focused on family law practice.
Whether helping a client reach a thoughtful resolution outside the courtroom or providing strong advocacy when litigation is necessary, Elizabeth's goal is to help clients feel informed, supported, and confident about the decisions ahead.
Outside of her practice, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, their three children, and their beloved dogs.
